What is a gender reveal?
Many couples choose to find out the sex of their baby during pregnancy these days, and a gender reveal portrait session is a chance to make an occasion of it. By having a photoshoot with us, we can document the elation and joy that you and your partner feel in the moment of the reveal. It’s fun and exciting, and a lovely experience for you both!
What happens during a gender reveal photoshoot?
You’ll come to your gender reveal photography session with the gender of your baby written on a piece of paper and hidden in an envelope. You will have received this from your health practitioner at your latest ultrasound pregnancy scan and, naturally, neither of you will know what’s written inside.
When you arrive, that envelope will be opened in private by your gender reveal photographer Fife and we will then prepare the correct coloured confetti (pink for a girl, blue for a boy) and place this within our ivory or white coloured umbrella, which we’ll use as a prop in the gender reveal photoshoot
Don’t worry, we’ll keep the secret safe and ensure that you are none the wiser about the gender of your baby until the exact moment when we’re ready to photograph the reveal.
Then, when it comes to the reveal itself, we’ll ask one of you to hold the umbrella and, when you’re ready, to open it up.
At that moment, the coloured confetti will cascade down from the umbrella onto both you and your baby’s gender will be revealed! Cue the smiles, hugs and kisses as you celebrate the news together!
Or else
we can use paint where you are both blindfolded and I give you paint on your hands to paint each other while blindfolded and I take pictures of the moment.

What’s included in a gender reveal photography session?
Maternity and Couple portraits
You’ll get to experience a private photoshoot in our photography studio, here in Cardenden, and firstly we’ll photograph you and your partner (and bump!). We realise that you may not have many professional portraits of you together, so it’s a rare chance to have some couples’ portraits taken. Relaxed and posed couple shots will be a lovely memento of your pregnancy and will capture the joy that’s clear to see on your faces as you look ahead to the birth of your baby. We’ll also ensure that your baby bump is clearly visible in the photos. It’ll be like a mini Maternity shoot, and your baby’s first ever photoshoot!

The gender reveal
We’ll then setup the gender reveal and record the moment of the announcement. We’ll record the moment of the reveal so that you can enjoy it again and again, and will be able to show the gender reveal to grandparents, friends and family. The surprise and delight on your faces will be wonderful to look back on in years to come!
